PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd is the upstream exploration and production (E&P) subsidiary of PETRONAS (Petroliam Nasional Berhad), Malaysia’s national oil and gas company.

  • Approved the Final Investment Decision (FID) for the Kasawari Carbon Capture & Sequestration (CCS) project offshore Sarawak, targeting reduction of ~3.3 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually—one of the largest offshore CCS initiatives globally.

✔️ New Subsidiary: Vestigo Petroleum:

  • Launched Vestigo Petroleum Sdn Bhd, wholly-owned by PETRONAS Carigali, focused on developing mature, small, and marginal fields, improving production efficiency and supporting strategic growth.

✔️ Regional Collaboration:

  • Partnered with Thailand’s PTTEP via MoUs and technical assistance agreements (TAAs) for gas block development in Bintulu offshore blocks SK405B and SK410B, aiming at shared infrastructure and engineering synergies.

✔️ Cross‑Border Projects:

  • Participates in Malaysia–Thailand joint development blocks via operating companies under PSC structures, such as Carigali Hess and Carigali‑PTTEPI in shared offshore basins.

✔️ Supply Operations:

  • Operates logistics and supply bases, including at Tanjung Berhala, Terengganu, supporting offshore drilling and exploration since the 1980s.

PETRONAS Carigali is PETRONAS’ main upstream arm, overseeing:

  • Exploration and production licensing (via Production Sharing Contracts)

  • Development of both new and mature oil/gas fields

📌 What Is the Kasawari CCS Project? A carbon capture and storage initiative developed by PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd , located in Block SK316, about 200 km offshore from Bintulu, Sarawak .
